Abstract: Climate change is intensifying global warming and extreme weather disasters, thereby threatening biodiversity and food security. Since the Industrial Revolution, the rapid increase in greenhouse gases has driven a rise in global average temperatures, making disasters such as heat waves, floods, droughts, and wildfires more frequent, which in turn undermine agricultural productivity, trigger agflation, and erode food sovereignty. In particular, Korea’s low grain self-sufficiency exacerbates its vulnerability. To respond, it is essential to achieve carbon neutrality, strengthen early warning systems for agricultural disasters, develop climate-resilient crop varieties, and expand climate-smart agricultural technologies such as smart farms and alternative foods. The lecture concludes by stressing that humanity must shift from a “Human logic” centered on growth and convenience to an “Eco logic” based on coexistence and sustainability in order to secure future food security and resilience.
