The 13th Chengyao Young Scholars Forum of Nanjing University, the sub-forum of the School of Atmospheric Sciences was held from December 26 to 27, 2025, at the School of Atmospheric Sciences (SAS). The event gathered 14 young scholars from leading global institutions such as MIT, Princeton University, Stockholm University, and Hokkaido University, along with SAS leadership, talent recruitment committee members, and faculty representatives. The forum was chaired by Professors Lili Lei, Jianfeng Gu, and Wenxia Zhang.
In his opening address, Professor Kun Zhao, Dean of SAS, extended a warm welcome to the participants. He reviewed the school's century-long history—from its early pioneering days to its current role as a leading center for research and education. Dean Zhao reaffirmed the school's enduring commitment to openness and innovation, highlighting its continued efforts to attract outstanding young talent and drive forward the field of atmospheric sciences.
Held in a hybrid format across three parallel sessions, the forum featured academic presentations and vibrant discussions on key topics including tropical cyclones, extreme climate events, aerosol and cloud physics, and atmospheric chemistry. The exchanges between young scholars, faculty, and students were dynamic and stimulating, fostering meaningful dialogue and productive collaboration throughout.
To conclude the forum, Kun Zhao and Lili Lei led attendees on a tour of the school's history gallery, offering deeper insight into the century-long development of atmospheric sciences at Nanjing University.
