The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) has announced that Researcher Lin Wang of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences—a distinguished alumnus of our school—has been elected a Fellow of the Society.
Founded in 1850, the Royal Meteorological Society is a leading global organization dedicated to the advancement of meteorology and related sciences. It promotes research, education, and practical application in the field while fostering collaboration among scientists worldwide. The title of Fellow is conferred upon individuals who have made exceptional contributions to meteorology or related disciplines, following a rigorous review and approval process by the Society.
Lin Wang specializes in climate dynamics research with a focus on mid- to high-latitude regions. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and has been awarded honors including the Zhao Jiuzhang Outstanding Young and Middle‑aged Scientist Award. His numerous leadership roles include serving as Chair of the Dynamic Meteorology Committee of the Chinese Meteorological Society, Member of the International Commission on Dynamic Meteorology, Co‑Chair of the CLIVAR/GEWEX Asian‑Australian Monsoon Panel, and Member of both the Scientific Steering Committee for the WCRP Lighthouse Activity "My Climate Risk" and the "Explaining and Predicting Earth System Change" Working Group.
